Three Breeds of Warrior. Three Brutal Campaigns. One Relentless Battleground.
In deep space, on the frontier of human colonization, an ancient pyramid is discovered. When archaeologists probe the pyramid’s secrets they unwittingly trigger an apocalyptic confrontation between vengeful Predators, menacing Aliens, and heavily-armed Colonial Marines. Welcome to Aliens versus Predator, a stunningly-detailed FPS that seamlessly blends the action and intensity of one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. Whether you stalk your prey as a Predator, evolve into the perfect killing machine as an Alien, or use superior firepower as a Colonial Marine, one thing is certain. This will be a battle for the ages.

Features:

  • Master the skills of three deadly species: As a Predator, use your cloaking abilities and multiple vision modes to stalk your enemies while remaining hidden. Then rip out their spines with your wrist blades, or snipe them from afar with your plasma caster. As an Alien, use your finely-honed killer instincts to become the most lethal creature in the galaxy. Traverse any surface at blinding speeds, emerging from the dark to tear off your victims’ heads or impale them with your dagger-sharp tail. As a Colonial Marine, use your diverse arsenal and overwhelming firepower to hold the line against seemingly impossible odds.
  • Discover three unique single-player experiences: Each of the three species has its own unique storyline that intertwines with the others to create a compelling cinematic narrative, inspired by one of the most popular movie franchises of all time.
  • Plunge yourself into intense online multiplayer combat: Take on hordes of online opponents in adrenaline-fueled multiplayer battles. Stalk your prey silently as a Predator, become a nightmarish killing machine as an Alien, or lay down a barrage of lethal fire as a battle-hardened Colonial Marine. Take advantage of each faction’s unique abilities to rise to the top of the leaderboards and become the most dominant species in the universe.

5 out of 5 stars Pure AvP entertainment   February 17, 2010

I was a big fan of the 1999 release of AvP2. This game brings most of that back and fixes several problems I had encountered with the previous versions. First, mobility... Aliens are fast and nimble as they should be, at a sacrifice for durability. Predators can leap from tree to tree and ledge, you're strong and direct. Humans, many complain about balance here but I can assure you, if a human sees you coming, you won't make it to them. They've captured the spirit of the universe surprisingly well, even the AI humans will unload on the smallest sign of movement and keep firing wherever they deem trouble to come from... this is a refreshing (and useful in PvP) technique.

The trophy kills are brutal, very brutal, and they come at the expense of exposure. As a predator, you can leap from a tree, landing directly behind an enemy and kill them in silver-screen glory... but don't expect its friends not to light you up as you perform the spine-ectomy. The story-lines are very intersting and the sound effects are glorious, especially the human motion-tracker and the predator (well, pretty much everything).

Graphics aren't perfect, but certainly high-end enough to get the feeling. HUD's are perfect for the races. Some people have complained about controls, I haven't experience much difficulty here, it has a learning curve. The most difficult aspect is fighting a horde of quick moving aliens with your hands, the tracking system is not meant to accomidate multiple targets and is the only gripe I have. Target switching on the fly would have been nice.

If you're a fan of the movies, you'll dig the game, it lived up to my expectations most definitely. I perhaps am scoring a bit high based on my interest with the universe, but I can deal with that. Pick this one up if you're looking for a different kind of shooter/horror game.

Edit: Upon lengthy play, as much as I enjoy the game, the online queing for multiplayer matches leaves much to be desired. If there is one great detraction, it is the interface and system of matchmaking... games take forever to find people and do not communicate their status in any detail. Also, if the host leaves the game, the game ends. A proper matchmaking system would really gold start this game, I honestly couldn't ask for much more.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for entertaining   March 11, 2010

I like it. It's fun. Played all the campaigns, storylines were not amazing, but being each type in the game was fun. the dark levels with a crappy maglite was cool in my opinion. alien transitioning from floor to wall to ceiling gets annoying and makes me dizzy. predator's weapons are freakin' sweet. just started playing multiplayer online the last few days, it rocks. even though the marine isn't the best killer, i really like the challenge. i bought it without trying the demo, and i am not disappointed. controls and graphics aren't fabulous, but i give it five stars for the entertainment.

5 out of 5 stars Alien vs Predator   April 3, 2010

I like this game a lot, it's like having 3 games in one, because you can chose from being the marine, the predator or the alien, If you are a fan of the movies you will like this game because you'll feel like you are the Predator with all his weapons and the optic camouflage and the termal vision. I don't know why some peolpe say it's a bad game...

5 out of 5 stars Great Campaign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   April 6, 2010

I got this game 3 days ago and i say this game is awesome. There are 3 campaighns. Alien, predator and marine. The marine is so totally scary facing those creaturesbut it is a great challenge. Alien one is where you have to release your siblings and queen as the marine scientists tried capturing you for study. aliens all go against predators. The predator missions are really fun but, hard. you have to breach the marine while going through aliens. the marines get a pulse rifle, pistol, shotgun, sniper, flamethrower, and many more. All gones track movement and the pulse rifle has a grenader. The xbox live is nice to use melee against but sadly not enough play. the graphics are top notch. the surviver mode is whre you a marine fend off swarms of aliens. this game is only a one player though. this game has 2 maps for survivor mode and 6 maps and game modes for xbox live. this game is great a lot of fun but a little. i'm playing on hard played for about 8 hours. and i'm only about 30% complete. there are 4 difficulties easy, normal, hard, and nightmare.i the controls are very easy to learn after about 15 min. i'm thankful that the marine has a melee move now. the predator and alien have trophy kills. where they grab the enemy and either cut there head off, break there back, or something else. gameplay 5/5 campaign 5/5 xbox live 4/5 survivor 5/5 difficulty 5/5 fun 5/5 graphics 5/5 controls 5/5.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Online Games...ever!   April 30, 2010

The solo part of this game is ok. It is basically training for the multiplayer. It has a bare bones story that moves things along, but for the most part it leaves you wanting more. Which is a perfect lead in for the multiplayer. If all you play is the solo game you'll walk away thinking this game was kind of a let down. If you play the solo campaign and then take what you learned into the online you'll find this is one of the best multiplayer games ever. That's right, ever. I've been playing the online multiplayer now for over a month and I'm still haven't grown tired of the trophy kills (the Predator has some really fun ones.) I would recommond this game to any alien, or Predator fan as well as any FPS fan. The great thing about this game is once you get bored of being a human, you can play as an alien. Once you get bored of being an alien you can play as a Predator. And once you get bored of playing as a Predator...well...you might want to make sure you're playing the game right. 7/10 for the single player, 10/10 for the multiplayer.

And I'd give a strong warning to any parents out there. This is the most gore filled game I've ever played. But then again, this may be obvious since it is a game based on film franchises that are rated "R".
